Understory.io (Holdbar.com A/S)

Understory (now Holdbar.com A/S) is a software-as-a-service company delivering licensed software for the tours and activities industry, and it's where TrueStory's own founders went next. They brought me with them: I joined as one of the first few members on the Holdbar team, July 2023 to February 2025, as a Senior Product Developer. Mostly remote from Colombo, with two months on-site at their Aarhus headquarters to help with onboarding and to work with clients face to face.

The main system was a multi-tenant booking platform running on AWS, event-driven and built on serverless primitives, where correctness in the booking flow mattered more than almost anything else I've worked on. Alongside that I built an LLM-powered lead-sourcing engine on Amazon Bedrock that analyzed over 1.3 million Nordic websites, and data-warehousing and analytics workflows on AWS Glue, Athena, and Redshift.

The moment I'd point to first is the internal AI hackathon. I built a WebSocket-based onboarding engine, won the hackathon outright, and then watched Understory take it straight into production rather than let it die as a demo. It's still live.
