TrueStory

TrueStory is a Scandinavian experience platform: customers browse, book, or gift activities and accommodations across three Nordic markets. I worked with them remotely from May 2021 to February 2023, starting as a Senior Backend Developer and promoted to Tech-Lead for Bookings Core six months in.

The core of the work was bookings-core, a component set that let TrueStory's eCommerce app integrate directly with third-party booking platforms to retrieve availability and place bookings automatically, including real optimization work to pull data at scale and work around third-party system limits. I led the initial migration from ECS to Kubernetes, designed the GitOps-enabled auto-scaling clusters that replaced it, and handled localization across three Nordic cultures: Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish. A sitemap generator keeping three localized sites correctly indexed, an early company-wide data-lake effort, and a Webshipper shipping-platform integration rounded out the tenure.
