APIIT Sri Lanka

APIIT is where I did my own BSc, taught through Staffordshire University's partnership programme. In February 2022, while working full-time at TrueStory, I went back as a Visiting Lecturer for the final-year "Clean Coding & Concurrent Programming" module, taught in Java, covering the clean-coding half: clean code, Clean Architecture, design patterns, SOLID principles, and TDD. A different lecturer taught the concurrency half.

I rewrote the lecture and lab material, taught in-person and online through a stretch that included both COVID disruption and Sri Lanka's 2022 economic crisis, and assessed students through live demos and written reports rather than pure exams. I worked directly with the module's original creator to keep the material aligned with the wider programme, and mentored final-year students on their own projects well past what the role technically required. The whole thing ran eight months, February to October 2022, alongside a full-time job. It's the piece of my career least visible on a CV, and the one I'd point to first if someone asked whether I actually enjoy explaining things as much as building them.
