Clean Coding & Concurrent Programming: final-year module

I taught the clean-coding half of this final-year module: clean code, Clean Architecture, GoF design patterns, SOLID principles, and TDD with unit testing, all in Java. A different lecturer handled the concurrent-programming half.

I authored updated lecture and lab material rather than teaching from someone else's slides unchanged, and assessed through live demonstrations and written reports instead of closed-book exams, because you can't fake understanding a codebase live in front of someone the way you can fake it on a written test. Design patterns and SOLID principles are easy to teach as rules and hard to teach as judgment, knowing when applying a pattern helps versus when it's just ceremony, and that's the part I cared most about getting across, not just naming the patterns correctly on a slide.

I stayed in touch with the module's original creator at Staffordshire throughout to keep the content aligned with the wider programme, and mentored several students on their own final-year projects well past what the role required, the same instinct that later made SCIENTIA24x7 the part of Zone24x7 I was proudest of.
